Genny™ is a medical device that allows a large number of people with disability to move safely in spaces previously inaccessible to them. The device has a Segway® self-balancing base that has been modified and adapted to the needs, ensuring immediate rotations on the same axis and the progress without the need to operate control levers such as accelerators or brakes. Genny™ is the first Active Power Wheelchair that has been produced in the world.

This Segway based, self-balancing, motorised wheelchair is in excellent condition, having barely been used since being bought new in late 2016. It’s had a couple of short outdoor trips for a couple of hours each time, so has really not had much wear mechanically and is in good condition cosmetically.

It’s a lovely turquoise green/blue colour with black alloy style wheels and is equipped with LED lights and a flexible, Tarta backrest.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Genny chair it uses dynamic stability, meaning it’s completely self-balancing. It’s easily steered by adjusting upper body position to move forwards, sideways etc. and highly manoeuvrable with a turning radius of zero, as it can turn in place due to the wheels being able to rotate in opposite directions. It has self operating retractable legs for parking stability, the side defenders can be dropped to assist transferring on and off and has a removable handle bar, enabling easier access to tables, for example.

Maximum speed is 12 kmh (although this can be reduced to start with if required by using ‘Beginner Mode’), range is 26-39 km (depending on terrain) and the Li-ion batteries can be recharged in around 8 hours from empty.

The Genny comes with charger, spare removable ‘Infokey’ controller and two user/service manuals.
